Drinking From a Coconut

I just had to post this picture of me drinking the coconut water directly from the coconut. This is a normal occurance around here. I happen to be at the beach, while I'm enjoying this coconut, but we are generaly offered coconuts when we visit people in their homes. Since food isn't usually kept on hand, when we show up, someone is sent to go climb a coconut tree, cut down the coconuts for us and then a guy cuts open the coconut with a machete. It's actually quite a cool experience!

School Beach Day!

At the end of the last school term, we organized a day at the beach. There was a pretty good turn out and we all had lots of fun playing football in the water, frisbee on the beach, and eating bread that we bought and donuts that I made at home. These are just a few of my students, but I thought I'd post their picture for you, cuz these guys are also some of my closest friends.

Thanks for all your prayers for the school and for my students. Please continue to pray for them, that their English will improve, that they'll grow closer to God and that they'll accept Christ, if they haven't already.

Please also continue to pray for me, that God will continue to give me the strength and good health that I need to continue teaching. I've also started cooking breakfast and lunch for the teams that are coming down, so pray that God's hand will be in that as well. Thanks and may God bless you all!!!

Life's a little different around here at the property. Personally, I think we've all adjusted pretty well to not having running water or electricity. This is Rebekah, Steve and I at our kitchen sink.

This is me preparing Indian bread for breakfast. I've been cooking over a kerosene stove for the past couple months, and let's just say there are times when the comforts of Canada seem very inviting! I've enjoyed the challenge of trying new things and producing something from nothing sometimes. Life here can be stretching at times, but God is good and He always gives us what we need to get through each situation. It's been amazing to watch Him provide everything we need at exactly the right time! Praise the Lord, for His 'impeccable' timing!

It's Been Awhile....

I thought I'd post a couple pictures of us just chilling at the beach. This is me holding a plate of freshly grilled lobster. We watched them bring it in out of the water for us. It doesn't get much fresher than that, and boy was it ever good!!!

This is me with my best buds and fellow missionaries, Steve, Rachel and Rebekah. We all arrived here in Haiti on the same day and we've all become like brothers and sisters, during our time here. Rachel and Rebekah are headed back to Alberta next week, so you can pray for those of us who will be left behind. It's going to be difficult losing such important family members!!!
