Busy, Busy, Busy!

Well, it's been awhile since my last post, and I have to say that I'm having a bit of difficulty catching up to this fast-paced Canadian life. I feel like I'm always tired now. I've been spending a lot of time out at Forest Cliff Camp, where I'm the Head Cook for the summer. I've already moved all my stuff into the trailer where I'll be staying, and I'm basically living at camp now, and just coming home for visits. I've decided to take on a project of painting the inside of one of the staff cabins, so that's definitely going to fill up every day the rest of this week. I'm in my friend, Debora's wedding on Saturday, so every night this week is absolutely booked up. I've already been at camp for two training weekends, since I've been home, and somehow it seems like I'm always running from one thing to the next. I don't even really understand why I'm so busy.

As an update to my plans for the fall... I've sent in my application to Haiti ARISE, so I'm looking forward to hearing back from them. I did receive an email from the directors of the mission, in Haiti, and they said they've been praying for God to provide an ESL teacher for the fall, since the one they have right now, won't be returning. They said they're looking forward to receiving my application and that their school year starts in October, so that's probably when I'll be returning to Haiti. I'd really appreciate your prayers, as I've given God all these plans and I'm asking Him to lead me where He wants me to be and to bring all His plans together. Please pray that God will make it really clear where He wants me in the fall, and that He'll provide whatever means I need to get there. Please also pray that God will give me His strength to make it through the summer! :o)

Debora's Bridal Shower

Friday night was Debora's bridal shower... and it sure was a lot of fun!
We played a bit of wedding pictionary and had some crazy volunteers up there drawing pictures! I think everyone really enjoyed themselves and fortunately, there was lots of food for everyone too!
It was fun to watch Debora opening all her presents... she sure did get a lot of them!!! The living room was packed with people and someone was thinking, cuz Debora got two brooms and a mop. Now she's all set for married life! haha Posted by Picasa

AAGGHH!!!

Ok. So it feels like I started running the minute I got home and haven't stopped running since! Man alive! I was at a Forest Cliff Camp core staff training weekend last weekend (my first weekend home) and so I still haven't seen everyone from church yet. I've started working at the Forest Glenn Herb Farm again, which is great cuz I really need the money and I love it there, but I've also been getting together with people at night and I've been out every single night since I got home and I can already feel it catching up with me. It's times like this that I really miss Haiti and the much slower pace of life!
By the way, I'm still looking for some more assistant cooks for camp this summer, so any of you people out there have a week of your summer free, you should come out and help me in the kitchen at camp for a week! It's pretty much guaranteed to be a fun-filled week, and definitely an amazing summer!
Well, it's time for me to sign off and go to bed.
Good night!

Adjusting to Life in Canada

Well, it's sure has been good to see all my old friends again! I just returned from a training weekend at Forest Cliff Camp, where I will be working for the summer. I have to say, I'm quite tired as a result, but it was a very fun-filled weekend and it was good for me to get to know all the new staff that I'll be working with this summer. It's looking like it will be a very good group and I'm really looking forward to working with each of them this year!

The picture that is posted here, is of me and my best friend Debora. This picture was taken last year at our church picnic, but I liked it so much I decided to show it anyways. Debora is getting married in three weeks and I will be a bridesmaid in her wedding, so this month is promising to fly by quickly, with all that I have to do. Already, every weekend in June is booked for me and I need to work as much as I can, so I'm thinking that I really won't have much free time at all! I am very blessed because some good friends of mine own the Forest Glenn Herb Farm, just down Lakeshore Road from here, and they are more than willing to have me help them out until camp starts in July.

Now, I would like to ask for your continued prayers for the Lord's direction for me this fall. As some of you know, I was planning on going to England to work for a year.... and it seems that the Lord is closing that door. However, I have written in a previous post about the ministry that I visited in the town of Grand Goave, in Haiti. Well, the people who run the mission have asked me if I would consider returning to Haiti to teach English. I told them that I would consider it, and I have prayed an awful lot and talked to my parents about it, and have decided to apply to the mission to return to Haiti in the fall for 8-9 months. I would like to ask for your prayers that if this is truly God's direction for me, that He would provide all the funding I would need to return to Haiti. It will cost me approximately $6,000. Canadian, for nine months. The organization that I would be working for is called Haiti ARISE and, as I mentioned before, it is a vocational school for the Haitian people. It is a Christian organization with good solid teaching. There is also a church that has been started by the mission, that I talked about in one of my previous blogs. It is a very strong church, with a fire and passion for God that I have not seen in many places. I am excited at the chance to return to Haiti and be a part of the mininstry of Haiti ARISE and I would like to ask you to consider being a part of this ministry with me, through your prayers and however else the Lord leads you. Also, please feel free to check out Haiti ARISE's website at www.haitiarise.org
Thank you again for being such a huge part of what God is doing in my life. Your prayers are certainly appreciated!!!

I'm Home, Safe and Sound!

Thank you all for your prayers yesterday, and during my entire time in Haiti. I can't even tell you how many times I knew those prayers were at work. That's one thing that I love most about the third world... you don't just know that God is working, you see Him working every day!

Everything went smothly yesterday; I made all my flights, with extra time to spare. I must say, it's good to be home, especially after a day of travelling! Now I'm faced with trying to adjust back into North American culture, which I'm already finding a little overwhelming! haha! I walked into my house last night and the first thing that came to my mind was how rich our house looks! We only have a normal house, by North-American standards, but in Haiti, this would be a wealthy person's house! It's not even so much that it's such a wealthy house... it's just so comfortable. There's multiple TV's, computers, internet that almost always works, phones that always work, hot and cold running water that's clean and safe to drink, as well as no rats, lizards, or cocroaches to worry about. Oh, and did I mention that the electricity is actually dependable in Canada? Yes, we have it really good here, and I just hope that what people have read on my blog, these past few months, will help them realize how blessed we are and that we would all be more willing to reach out and help others that are truly in need, even if it causes us a little inconvience.
